I underestimated the hike.
We started early, chasing the sunrise, expecting a pleasant morning walk. Instead, it turned into nearly two hours of relentless climbing. The higher we went, the hotter it became, and eventually I had to stop before reaching the summit.
Oddly enough, I don't remember the disappointment.
I remember standing there, exhausted, my feet burning after every step, watching the sunrise paint the mountains in soft shades of pink and gold. In that moment, every ache disappeared beneath a feeling of pure accomplishment. It didn't matter that I hadn't reached the very top.

The journey kept getting better.
We explored the incredible Sigiriya, where centuries of history meet breathtaking jungle views. We wandered through Galle's charming Dutch fort, surrounded by colonial architecture and peaceful seaside streets. And then there was Yala National Park...
Our safari became unforgettable when a crocodile suddenly charged toward our vehicle. 🐊
It happened so quickly that excitement instantly turned into adrenaline. For a few seconds, nobody spoke. Then came the laughter once we realized we were perfectly safe. It's one of those stories that only gets better every time you tell it.
But if there's one memory I return to again and again, it's much quieter.
After the morning hike, we arrived in Galle. The heat of the day slowly faded, the sea breeze replaced the tropical sun, and I sat with a cold beer, watching the sunset near the historic lighthouse. 🍺🌅
